At TSpitz Consulting, Inc. we recommend the technical solution that works for you. These are some of the features and differences of the 3 major operating systems.
Windows: Due to the sheer number of Windows users, most people are relatively familiar with the UI are comfortable using it. For the same reason there is also a huge list of available software.
Linux: Freedom, there are 2 aspects to freedom, as it is applicable to Linux. 1) free as in beer, most Linux distributions are free of cost. You can legally download, and load it on as many computers as you like. 2) free in the intellectual sense, meaning anyone can look at the source code, and change it based on their needs and wants.
Another big advantage, because Linux has a much smaller user base then it's competitors malware authors don't have the same incentives to target Linux users. So although Linux executes code, and is technically just as capable of being infected as a Windows computer, the chances are still less.
OS X (Apple): Apple is known for their efforts in creating an aesthetically pleasing desktop, and their operating system is generally considered extremely intuitive for users.
Additionally, if you're a iPad or iPhone user, Apple's operating system does a great job of integrating all their products, and working well together.
To be fair, the OS discussion is ripe with strong opinions, and stronger personalities. Every advantage mentioned, has dis-advantages, and people who will yell about them from the tree tops.
At TSpitz Consulting, Inc. we highly recommend you use Linux. But we advise you to use whichever system works best for you. Depending on your use case, it might be one of these mentioned. Contact us, and we can help you make that decision.
